On 5/11, the PTA will be hosting a catered luncheon for our teachers and staff. It is our simple way of saying thank you for everything that our staff provide and share with our children. For this event to be successful, we need your help. If you are able to contribute, please choose an item and fill out the form below or contact the PTA ([email protected]) with your choice. Please bring your labeled container (identifying food contents and contributing family) to the gazebo by 10am on 5/11.
Thank you for your time and support in helping make this event successful and delicious. Also if you are interested in setting up, serving, or breaking down at the event, we always are in need of support. Please sign up for a time slot on the "Volunteer to help during lunch" tab. Please label all food with family name and include ingredients for those with food sensitivities. Please pickup your dishes by the end of the day. We do not have a kitchen so dishes cannot be left at the school. The Waitsfield Elementary School PTA is excited to announce the start of the WES Garden Club! The Garden Club is for any student that is interested in learning how to grow vegetables and plan and maintain a garden. We will start with growing seedlings, planning where and what to plant in the garden and general garden prep. We will also install native bee houses around the garden, release mason bees, visit a nearby farm and cook with vegetables grown in the garden! The club will meet bi-monthly starting on 4/7 and is for students in grades 1st through 6th. Space is limited. Please sign up here. Hi Waitsfield Families-
Happy Spring! In an effort to communicate school decisions and items that affect WES we are sharing the information below: The board will be meeting tonight to discuss the Waitsfield School Kitchen Project. This project was approved by the board in November and went out to bid. One bid was received and it was higher than expected. At this time the board is recommending that the project be put on hold. For historical information, Waitsfield is the only school in the district without a commercial kitchen. Currently, WES meals are delivered in the back of the personally owned truck of one of the food service staff employees -- as are the dishes and the trays students eat upon. WES has a sink that never passes health inspection. The current enrollment at WES is almost 170 students, resulting in MANY meals being transported and served through an individual's truck; just today over 50 breakfasts and almost 100 lunches were served. If anyone feels that this project should not be put on hold and is concerned about the hygiene, efficiency and sustainability of our current food service with the facility we have, we ask that you express your opinion to the school board. The board can be reached at [email protected]. Thank you for your time and consideration, WES PTA |
